How to find your next salon in Malta — without the phone tag
The old way: three calls and a "we'll get back to you"
If you've lived in Malta for any length of time, you know the routine. You decide on a Tuesday that you want a haircut on Saturday. You call your usual place. They're full. You try another. They don't pick up. You leave a voice note. By Thursday you've given up.
It doesn't have to be like that anymore.
What to look for in a salon profile
When you're scanning options online, four things actually matter:
- Real availability today. Anyone can list a phone number. The salons worth your time show real, bookable slots.
- Reviews from people who showed up. A handful of recent reviews from verified bookings beats a hundred old star ratings.
- Clear pricing. A salon that hides its prices is one that'll surprise you at the till.
- Photos of the actual space. Not stock images — the chairs, the mirrors, the entrance.
Three ways to narrow down faster
- Filter by what you want, not where it is. "Balayage near me" gives you ten salons. "Balayage open Saturday afternoon under €80" gives you the two you'd actually book.
- Read the most recent review first. Old reviews tell you about the salon a year ago. The newest review tells you about the salon you'll walk into.
- Pick your slot before you commit. If a salon's calendar shows Saturday at 14:00 free, book it. Don't add to cart and wait — by tomorrow it'll be gone.
What "instant booking" actually means
When you book through Grunba, the slot is yours the moment you confirm. There's no "we'll call you back to confirm." The business gets the booking automatically; you get a confirmation email and (if you opted in) an SMS reminder the day before.
If something comes up, you can reschedule from the same link in two taps. No phone calls. No guilt.
A note on trying somewhere new
Most people in Malta have one salon they've been going to forever. There's something nice about that — your stylist knows your hair, the staff knows your name. But Malta has hundreds of excellent salons, and a lot of them are quietly brilliant.
If you've been meaning to try a new spot, this is your sign. Browse salons near you and book a slot for next week. Worst case, you go back to your old place. Best case, you find a new favourite.
